Pastoral Care

Milton Abbey is a unique and profoundly caring environment, brought about by the small size of our School, our exceptional academic and pastoral staff, and complemented by our beautiful setting and surroundings.

Every teacher knows every pupil, and all the pupils know each other, which creates a genuine, tolerant and wonderfully supportive environment that leads to pupils enjoying life at Milton Abbey.

The School dedicates itself to delivering outstanding care within the classrooms and boarding Houses, providing individual one-to-one tutoring which runs alongside an academic and extra-curricular programme tailored to each pupil. Tutors and tutees meet each week to discuss the programme for the week ahead, which helps encourage academic interest and wide participation in cultural, sporting and service-based activities.

The Health Centre

Our dedicated Health Centre was opened in 2012 to ensure we are able to give excellent care to our pupils and staff, despite our rural location. We are also less than 30 minutes away from the county's main hospital.

Our Health Centre is open 24 hours a day, staffed by a team of Registered Nurses with experience dealing with child-related illnesses. Our nurses are supported by the Senior Partners of the Milton Abbas Surgery who visit weekly. We have a number of beds available for children who require a short period of observation or care.

The surgery was awarded an 'excellent' rating by the CQC in 2016, something only given to 1% of surgeries in England.
