Confirmation Day at Milton Abbey

Milton Abbey pupils were confirmed on Sunday 29th April by Bishop Karen of Sherborne in a beautiful service in the Abbey with family and the whole School community.Confirmation Preparation started in the Michaelmas Term.

The pupils' preparation was organised by our School Chaplain, Jo Davis, and involved following the Youth Alpha course which explains what it is to be a Christian in modern times. Snow interrupted our retreat at Bryanston at the end of last term, but an extra session last week meant that the pupils were able to complete their preparation and were fully aware of all that they were taking on in ‘confirming’ their faith.

Altogether, seven pupils were confirmed  by Bishop Karen of Sherborne. Alex, Vlad, Dom, Rollo, Gus, Ali and Amelia were joined by their families and the whole school community.  In her sermon, Bishop Karen spoke about the importance of being connected to the vine, i.e. Jesus.  The preceding Gospel reading was from John where Jesus declares, “I am the vine, you are the branches”.

It was a very windy day but the rain held off and the service was followed by refreshments in the King’s Room.

We look forward to the 18th of May when two of our Roman Catholic pupils will be confirmed at Bryanston.
