University & Careers Advice

Milton Abbey offers a comprehensive employability, careers and UCAS (university application) advice service, which focuses on individual support and focuses on your interests and skills.

Alongside various career and university visits, we run a range of in-house events, from talks and workshops run by alumni (former students) and specialist education providers, to individual advice sessions run by our Head of Sixth Form.

Our support process runs throughout your time in Sixth Form, not just in the final few months. Your House team support you in building your CV and making sure you are both developing your skills and showcasing your achievements. Students receive specialist advice as they research and finalise their higher education or career choices. Our aim is to ensure that you leave Milton Abbey heading in the direction that best suits you and that makes the most of your strengths.

Where do Milton Abbey Leavers go next?

Some of our students leave having secured apprenticeships, work-based training or jobs in sought-after industries, others join the armed forces, and a few entrepreneurs have set-up their own businesses straight away.

The majority of our students go straight on to further study, with 96% of our university applicants going on to their first-choice course of study in 2021.

Miltonians go on to study everything you can think of: the course choices are as individual as our students and include Law with Modern Languages at Exeter, Business at the University of Michigan, British Sign Language and Deaf Studies at the University of Central Lancaster, Natural History Photography at Falmouth, French Language and Culture at Durham, Fashion at Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design, Event Management at Oxford Brookes, Architecture at Cardiff, Art at Manchester School of Art, Business at SOAS, Zoology at Bangor, Ancient History at King’s College London, Economics at York, Hospitality Management at Les Roches, Wildlife Conservation and Countryside Management at the Royal Agricultural University, Veterinary Nursing at Sparsholt, Football Coaching and Talent Development at UCFB, Geography and Management at Loughborough, War Studies at Hull, Journalism at Lincoln, Filmmaking at the Met Film School, Osteopathy at Swansea, Creative Media at Bath Spa and Biochemistry at Warwick.
