Welcome

MASPA was established in 2014 with the aim of providing current parents with a range of opportunities to meet each other socially in informal settings each term.

MASPA has been well-received and supported by parents, and we thank everyone who has come along to one of our ‘Coffee Stops’ or organised events.

We aim to keep our calendar of events as varied and entertaining as possible and would welcome any suggestions parents may have for future events. Additionally if there are any parents who would like to get involved in planning and suggesting future events do please come along to one of our planning meetings each term (meetings are held twice termly, once in London and once at the School).

Animal Therapy Session 🐴🍀 Last week, in support of Mental Health Awareness Week, we organised a special animal therapy session for students and staff to enjoy. We are incredibly fortunate to have our School Farm and Stables on site, giving students the opportunity to experience the calming benefits of therapy sessions with our Shetland ponies, Lexi and Amber, as well as Rooney. It was wonderful to see the students’ faces light up when they noticed three ponies in the Health Centre garden. Despite showery weather, students thoroughly enjoyed our first sea fishing trip of the year, venturing out on a charter from Swanage Pier, with skipper Geoff, a true legend of the Swanage Sea Fishing scene. Species caught included Bream, Huss and Conger Eels, with Mr Peel keen to tell tales of bringing a member of the shark family aboard! On Ascension Day, Mrs Rowland and Mr Crane accompanied four of our Milton Abbey School students, Juanita S-M, Lower Sixth, and Fifth Form students Bear H, Rachel K and Rahel K, to St Catherine’s Chapel to celebrate the day with a special service organised by the Winterborne Valley and Milton Abbas Benefice. Our Chaplain, the Reverend Lewis Pearson, officiated and led the service on a beautiful spring evening, with sunlight peeking into the 1,200-year-old chapel. Fantastic to host @wimbornetownyouthfc for a brilliant girls’ football fixture. With 18 girls involved, it was a brilliant showcase of the strength and growing depth of our programme. The team delivered an outstanding performance against a very experienced Wimborne side, showing excellent teamwork, effort and commitment throughout. It was a closely contested match that could have gone either way, and while we narrowly lost 1–0, it was a performance to be incredibly proud of. Due to Ten Tors, exams, and other commitments, a relatively inexperienced team made up largely of Third Formers travelled to Spinnaker Sailing Club to compete in the BSDRA Southern Area Championships. The team performed admirably throughout the event. Across the ten races sailed, they secured competitive finishes in seven races and claimed victory in one. The sailors showed excellent judgement on the water, avoiding unnecessary confrontations and demonstrating a strong standard of seamanship throughout the day.
