Milton Abbey Houses Bond on Adventure-Filled Residentials

All five boarding houses recently embarked on a series of exciting residential trips, each designed to challenge, inspire, and unite them through adventure, teamwork, and fun — all while soaking up some of the best the UK has to offer.

As a full boarding school, these house trips form a vital part of our school ethos, giving students the chance to build stronger bonds with their peers outside the classroom. The experiences provided not only develop character education, resilience and leadership but also offer precious opportunities for relaxation, laughter, and connection.

Here’s what they got up to…

Hambro House headed to the sunny Isle of Purbeck, where they enjoyed a fantastic mix of outdoor activities at Brenscombe, including archery, catapult-building, and target shooting. The group also took to the water for kayaking.

Tregonwell made the most of their time at Calshot, where they embraced a wide range of high-adrenaline activities. From snowboarding and high ropes to kayaking and the thrilling velodrome cycling, the group topped it all off with an exhilarating ride down the snow slopes on ringos.

Athelstan faced fresh challenges at the Mendip Activity Centre. The House tested their bravery with axe throwing, abseiling, and archery — experiences that demanded both courage and focus.

Further west, Damer took on North Devon, pushing themselves to new heights. They tackled high ropes courses and other height-based challenges, before bonding over nightlining and an atmospheric campfire evening under the stars.

Hughie’s journeyed to the Brecon Beacons, where they proved that teamwork truly makes the dream work. The House enjoyed a packed itinerary that included zip lining, go-karting, high ropes and climbing. Even the staff couldn’t help but get involved in the fun.
