Day Pupils

Boarding and Day

For those who attend the school as day pupils, Milton Abbey offers the same comprehensive academic and extra-curricular opportunities. We call this “a boarding experience without the boarding”.

DAY PUPILS

The timetable for our day pupils runs from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday, plus morning lessons and afternoon sports fixtures on Saturdays.

Day pupils play a full part in school life. Unlike many schools, they are assigned desk space within one of the boarding houses, where they will have a base for the day and somewhere to work. This also helps them feel part of the school community and to make friends with boarding pupils, taking part in lessons and extra-curricular activities side-by-side. Day pupils are even welcome to stay for an evening meal or to complete homework if they wish.

Sixth Form day students can travel to school in their own vehicles and park them on site.

BUS ROUTES

Milton Abbey School is located just outside the picturesque village of Milton Abbas in Dorset, approximately 30 miles south west of Salisbury, midway between the towns of Blandford and Dorchester.

We run a daily minibus service, with routes reviewed each year. Please speak to the school if you would like to make use of this service.
The school operates a chargeable bus service for Exeats and Half Term breaks servicing Western, Southern, a Central route which captures Salisbury and Basingstoke Station service to connect with the London Waterloo trains.

Day Pupil Opportunities

All day pupils are part of a Boarding House and are allocated a desk and storage space within a dormitory. Day pupils are expected to be in house by 08:25 for Callover and are free to go at the end of the afternoon timetable from 18:15 after prep. Day pupils are welcome to stay for supper, prep, and evening activities.
On Saturdays, the start time is the same as weekdays and collection will vary depending on whether they are playing sports at home or away that day; some sports like Sailing have a later return time. Day pupils are welcome to participate in weekend activities on Saturday nights and Sundays, by arrangement with their House Staff.
