Victory for Milton Abbey's U14 Lacrosse team!

Having spent many wet and windy sports sessions working on the basics of Lacrosse, it was time for the girls to put their efforts into action last weekend.

After a warm up and a few final words, the team got their season underway. Good running from Eve, Rowena and Zara put Hanford under pressure and a good save denied Zara her debut goal. Moments later, more strong running allowed Zara to get her name on the score sheet and take MA into the lead.

The 4 quarters saw MA go from strength to strength. They supported each other, worked hard to win possession and never gave up. Some great support play from Celcily and Ruby allowed Fleur to fire home two quick goals making the score 3-0.  At the other end some great shot stopping from Louise and Ruby kept the Hanford attackers searching for a breakthrough.  Maria, Minna and Abi all ensured that the ball worked its way towards out attackers and put a lot of pressure on Hanford. This wasn't enough to stop Hanford making good breaks and although Ruby made a great save from a close range penalty, they pulled one back to make it 3-1.  To seal the victory, Zara (player of the match) made a wonderful solo run and fired in a great low shot, beating the keeper and securing a fantastic 4-1 victory.

Well done to all of the girls and a special mention to Georgina and Felicity who showed maturity and leadership in their side-line support.
