Sports Results - Week 7

A round-up of sports results from week 7 of the Lent Term by Ben Lawes, Head of Sport.

Hockey

2nd XI v Ballard (Lost 5-1)
Ballard were patient with the ball and moved it around very well for the opening. The Abbey had their fair share of chances but couldn’t find the back of the net, with their keeper making some fantastic saves, denying Piers, Anton and Vlad. Ballard came out for the second half the better side and made it 4-0. The Abbey still looked dangerous and through lovely play, Piers managed to fire the ball home and get MA on the score sheet.

U15s v Ballard (Won 3-0)
The U15s dominated Ballard from start to finish however could still have played better by working as a team more. Thankfully strong individual performances from Gabriel, Dan, Marcus and Tom were enough for victory but they will have to play as a team when they come across stronger opposition.

U14s v Thomas Hardye School (Won 1-0)
The U14s enjoyed a good win over Thomas Hardyes away on their 3G pitch. The surface made any sort of passing and dribbling very tricky, but the boys persevered and remained patient. Joe battled hard again and Josh made some good runs on the left. The opposition found it hard to get past the defensive barrier of Bryn and George and the odd time they did, Archie in goal was up to the task. A second half strike from Piers was enough to win the game 1-0. Bryn was man of the match.

Cross Country

Milton Abbey hosted both a senior school and a prep school cross country event in recent weeks. Both events went extremely well. A big thank you to all the helpers who represented the school superbly. A special thanks to Miss Bemment for all her hard work in making the events so successful. We enjoyed some excellent home success in the senior event with Ralph coming 2nd in the U18 race and Ella and Ali both positioning well in their races. Every Milton Abbey runner gave it their very best and should be pleased with their performances. Well done!
