Sports Results - Week 10

A round-up of sports results from week 10 of the Lent Term by Ben Lawes, Head of Sport.

Netball

1st VII v Sexey’s - Lost
The team had a frustratingly slow start to their game and allowed Sexey's to dominate the 1st quarter, we controlled them in the 2nd quarter and our shooting improved. We won the 3rd quarter but the damage was already done. Hattie received a well-deserved player of the match.

2nd VII v Sexey’s - Lost
The girls were on good form following two victories and were leading 9-7 after three quarters. Tabs and Lily’s shooting was excellent and Estella dominated the centre court. Unfortunately an injury to Lily meant we had to play without our star shooter and this allowed Sexey’s back into the game and they claimed victory in the final 30 seconds. It was also a strong return for Bobbi as GK after a long injury. Great to see her back.

U15 v The Park - Won
The girls got off to a slow start with The Park shooters putting away early chances but we responded well and were leading at the half. With more grit and maturity the game swung in our favour in the second half. Late on Aly and Violet scored 5 from 5 and Amie and India didn’t let the Park score again, sealing a 17-12 win.

Cross Country - Clayesmore Relays
The Cross Country Team sent two teams to the Clayesmore Relays. The course has a water jump with a live video feed to the social centre which resulted in an entertaining afternoon. Darius had a strong finish in the final lap of the intermediate race. Ralph got the senior team off to a flying start with a second place in his lap followed by a strong performance from Will.

Hockey

U14 v Thomas Hardy – Won
The U14s started the match extremely strong winning the first half 3-0. There was some excellent passing and movement from many of the boys on the field, special mention to Josh, Archie and George. We lost the second half 1-0 due to lack of team work. The final score was 3-1, well done boys.
