Enterprise pupils' masterclass with entrepreneur Annoushka Ducas MBE

On Monday 8th May Annoushka Ducas MBE, founder of Links of London and Annoushka Jewellery, visited Milton Abbey School to run workshops for our Lower Sixth Form Enterprise pupils.

Over the course of the day Annoushka ran two workshops giving the Sixth Form pupils a fascinating insight into her life as an entrepreneur and designer.   In the morning session Annoushka explained how she had started her two businesses and how she had nurtured them into extremely successful and world renowned brands.  Pupils had lots of opportunities to ask questions and seek advice.  Annoushka explained that the most important thing about being an entrepreneur was to have passion for what you are doing, something that echoed advice of previous entrepreneurs who have visited Milton Abbey.

After lunch with pupils, Annoushka got everyone down to work in a more practical session during which they prepared business plans for a start-up business.  She helped with excellent advice about the need to consider aspects of marketing, distribution, product design as well as tips on how to pitch for funding successfully.   The session concluded with pupils pitching for funding to a panel of three, including Annoushka, and in front of their peers.  Annoushka's expert advice was enormously helpful given that the pupils will be doing just this as part of their Enterprise vocational course.

We are extremely grateful to Annoushka for making the time to come and spend a day with our Enterprise pupils.   Annoushka said of the day, "It was a great pleasure, I enjoyed it very much and was really interested to see how incredibly relevant the Enterprise course is to real life in business.  I was also blown away by Milton Abbey's incredible landscape."
