Milton Abbey Parent Teacher Committee

 

Statement of Purpose

The Parent Teacher Committee is an advisory panel to the Headmaster on all matters and provides a two-way channel of communication between parents and the School. We offer the Headmaster and Senior Management Team a sounding board for future plans and management concerns, and we are one of the ways in which parents’ views may be exposed. Our main purpose is to help inform the SMT.

 

The Committee was established in June 2011 and will meet once a term. The Chairman will encourage parent feedback for discussion when the Committee meets; the subsequent meeting notes will be published on the school website. Individual parent members are appointed as representatives to each year group. They will not have a child in that year and so will aim to collate only third party views. We intend to have at least one member of the Committee attend Parent/Teacher evenings and Open Days. Committee members will always be happy to try to answer questions about the School; Parents and prospective parents are welcome to contact Committee members directly, at any time.

 

Finally, we are not a complaints panel or an alternative chain of command, and we will not interfere in the important relationship between parents and their child’s Housemaster. Nor are we fundraisers or event organisers.
