Sunshine for Milton Abbey Troop Day 2012

Prior to the half term break the CCF entertained Air Vice Marshal Nigel Maddox, Chair of the CCF Association and the Senior Military Advisor for UK Trade and Industry. He first visited ten cadets at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy where preparations are well under way for the Olympic sailing events. Back at school he was joined by HM The Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mrs Valerie Pitt-Rivers for the CCF Parade on the Lawn. At the exact moment of the General Salute, the supporting Royal Engineers Band from Chatham were drowned out by a Sea King from RNAS YEOVILTON which landed for cadets tolook at after Parade. Representatives from the Royal Armoured Corps Centre Bovington attended tea after Parade, together with Parents of pupils who had trained for the Honour Guard since March. Parade Commander Henry Laschallas and Guard Commander Hamish Gardner gave a faultless display and were formally thanked on Parade. After tea the Air Vice Marshal toured the facilities and estate, including the new build, before announcing the Third Form (Army) as the best Section on Parade as judged by Second Lieutenant M Williams.
