Milton Abbey pupil passes Dorset Expeditionary Society selection process

Louis Hooker (Lower Sixth) is the first Milton Abbey student to pass the Dorset Expeditionary Society selection process to earn a place on the Moonland Expedition to India this summer.  Louis spent a gruelling weekend tackling challenges which were set to test his fitness, stamina, determination, navigational skills, ability to work in a team and survival skills.  Louis can now look forward to a summer of white water rafting down the headwaters of the Indus River, mountain biking across several high altitude routes to the Chinese border and trekking across the Moonlands of the Tibetan Plateau and crossing the Greater Himalaya. This is an amazing adventure and a fantastic opportunity for Louis.

Dorset Expeditionary Society is a charity which provides opportunities for 16 -25 year olds to develop their leadership skills whilst also having a life changing experience.  Louis now has the opportunity to go on a wide range of expeditions in the next few years and he aspires to become an Expedition leader himself in years to come. Louis and Dorcas Lydford (member of staff) are hoping to go to Ecuador in Summer 2013 where they will be climbing several high Andean Peaks, canoeing the upper reaches of the Amazon, living on the beaches of the Pacific Coast and crossing the Valley of the Volcanoes. Recruitment for the Ecuador expedition has just started and Dorcas is keen to get more Milton Abbey students through the selection process either in September or December so that they too can have this amazing experience.

Well done Louis, we look forward to hearing about your adventures when you return in September.
