Rewards
Milton Abbey unifies its reward policy under one specific "Award". An Award may be given for:
1) good grades (Housemasters and tutors)
2) good pieces of work (Teachers)
3) other achievements around the school, e.g. acts of kindness and helpfulness; good muscial or drama performance etc and fine performances on the games field (all teaching staff)
Awards will be communicated initially by giving the top, white copy of a carbonated set of slips to the student, with a copy for the Tutor (yellow) and the Housemaster (green). The Tutor will put the Award on a list in the Academic Shared Space (in the Reporting folder).
When the student reaches five Awards, the Headmaster will present a Certificate of Achievement to the pupil in a school assembly, and will also send a copy to the parents detailing the achievements. The Headmaster will also host a "Five Award's Tea" each half term for those who have achieved this success.
On a termly basis, the total scores will be totted up and the total divided by the number of students in a House, the winning House being awarded a sheild by the Headmaster.
Subject prizes will be given by department at the end of the academic year.
This system ensures participation by students, teachers, tutors and parents and will also reward contributions to school life in general, as well as academic work.
