Findlay arrives!

October 01, 2011

We're delighted to say that Findlay will be arriving today for a week - a one year old golden retriever. He'll be based in my office, but hopefully boys and girls will come and walk him, and he'll have a free run of the boarding houses during the evening. I'll let you know how it goes, but we're excited that he'll be joining us. More details on Woofability can be found at www.woofability.com

I had a very good meeting yesterday with Iain Saker, Chairman of the PTC. We covered a lot of areas, but most importantly addressed communication and how we can effectively ensure that this area works in the best way possible for the school and parents. I'm in the process of working on a communication strategy. Once this is complete, I'll be in a position to ensure that we implement it effectively. Further details will be discussed at the PTC meeting prior to Half Term. I'm a massive believer in the importance of a well functioning PTC - and grateful to Iain for all that he is doing in this area.

We're working with architects at the moment on the way in which Hambro and Athelstan will work together in their present locations, utilising space that will be made by Tregonwell moving to their new House and Bancks closing. The new houses will have the same standard of accommodation, including large common rooms, kitchens, matrons rooms and resident staff. I'll share more information about this on the development page once initial drawings have been completed.

The external artist impressions of the new girls house are now in the visitors drawing room, and will soon be on the website. Kate and Simon Kibler have been working hard on this with our architects, alongside recently visiting Hanford and Knighton House.

Change in rugby matches

Due to injury, the 2nds will not be travelling to Monkton Combe, but the 1st team are taking 20 players. If parents want more information on this, please 'phone the school asking to speak to the Deputy Head prior to 1050.
