A superb start to week 4
September 27, 2011
I was delighted to see the 1st's win against Sherborne 27 - 5, with trys scored by Rory Edwards in the bottom left hand corner, and Henry Lechallas straight off the training ground. George Cottrell kicked immaculately, and the icing on the cake was Jake Warren's drop goal in front of the posts. The seconds won 17 - 10. More details will be posted here when I get them. This sees the 1st results this term as win two, lost one. It is a superb effort.
Parents will be receiving, during the next couple of days, developed Progress Reports (PRs) for their children. We have embraced diagnostic reporting at the school, which means that all pupils receive an effort and attainment grade in classwork, and separately in prep work. There is also an achievement grade in the three areas of punctuality, organisation and behaviour. An email from the Assistant Head (Academic), Mike Sharp, will explain this in more detail when the PRs are sent out by email.
We had a delightful assembly yesterday. Jenny and Andy joined us from Woofability (www.woofability.com) to introduce us to Caspar and a 10 week old puppy. Woofability train dogs for the disabled, and is the school's charity for this coming term. We're also going to be helping the charity by socialising dogs for them, so don't be surprised if you suddenly find a young dog running through the corridors when you next come into the school. Needless to say, the visit went down brilliantly and we're proud to be supporting this fantastic Dorset based charity.
Chapel this morning took place in the NBT, and will do for over the next month and a half, as the Abbey is shut for renovations to the lighting. As we get updated photos we'll place them on the website.
We've yet again got a busy week, with a Communications and Culture trip out tomorrow, a theatre trip tonight, a busy collection of fixtures, and a packed weekend ahead. More to come as the week continues.
