University & Careers

University/Careers Guidance

Post-GCSE, Miltonians will find themselves making bigger decisions, taking responsibility for themselves and growing in independence. We look to them to share their experience and lead and manage the younger children. The role of both school and parents at this stage is to support, encourage, respect and, at the same time, to begin to let go. In all things, we shall direct their eyes to the world beyond Milton Abbey as we prepare them to play their part in it.

Throughout the Sixth Form we encourage pupils to test their vocational inclinations by work shadowing and work experience, as well as by attending careers and university fairs.

Students are provided with the information and research skills they need to help them decide on their future path – bearing in mind that most people change their minds about their career more than once.

Pupils are directed fully towards exploring higher education, and are given advice and help in choosing suitable Univeristies to apply to, and in completing excellent applications. The Headmaster writes all UCAS references, and takes a close interest in personal statements.
