Sixth Form
Milton Abbey Sixth Form is fully co-educational, most pupils will take three subjects at A-level in the Sixth Form, or a combination of AS and A-levels equivalent to this.
The pattern for acquiring qualifications is designed to be flexible and may vary from subject to subject: some subjects will operate on a ‘modular’ basis, with module tests being taken at various stages throughout the course (this can lead to the sequential acquisition of the AS and full A-level qualifications); others offer a discrete AS qualification by examination at the end of the first year which may be converted to an A-level by taking the A2 component at the end of the second year; others operate what is effectively a ‘linear’ teaching syllabus, with both the AS and A2 being examined together at the end of the two-year course; and some operate separate AS and AS+A2 courses, offered in separate sets, and each taking two years to complete (qualification for entry to these sets will depend upon the ability of each student).
In addition to the subjects being offered at GCSE level the following new subjects are also offered - Business Studies, History of Art, Classical Civilisation, Communication Studies, and B Tec's in Hospitality, Countryside Management, Horse Management and Sport & Exercise Science.
