Enrichment Policy at Milton Abbey

AIMS

The aim of Enrichment at Milton Abbey is to nurture a culture of social awareness and responsibility, so that pupils can contribute to the well-being of the school community and society as a whole.  Equally, Enrichment aims to support pupils in their academic and personal development both during their school life and beyond.  ”Enrichment underpins the existing aim of the school “to make the most of each individual by developing them academically, spiritually physically, as citizens for the future”.  The ethos of the school is to encourage individual talent and ability, and to create self-worth and collective responsibility.  The Enrichment programme, involving every year group, will work alongside and in conjunction with other vital areas of the school to uphold this ethos.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of Enrichment are to enable pupils to:

- Develop self-respect and an  understanding and tolerance of others and their differences, and to build healthy relationships;

- Value themselves as individuals and are open to spiritual, moral and intellectual development;

- Grow and develop their talents fully with motivation and a sense of purpose, learning to accept success and failure as part of that development;

- Lead and develop an active role in any social grouping from family to whole community;

          - Understand their rights and responsibilities within society;

          - Learn to live healthily and safely;

          - Understand the importance and value of their role in the democratic process;

          - Develop a healthy set of values and attitudes within a strong moral code.
