Introduction

Set in 80 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds, just outside the historic village of Milton Abbas, Milton Abbey School offers the perfect venue for a whole host of functions, from fully catered residential courses to simple room hire for business meetings.

As one of Dorset’s leading independent schools, Milton Abbey boasts a full range of first class facilities from the Sports Hall to the Lecture Theatre to the magnificent Kings’ Room and Abbot’s Hall we are able to cater for events large and small, with Wi-Fi available in most areas.

During the school holidays, we host luncheons including a tour of the Abbey and State Rooms on behalf of various organisations whilst also hosting our own Sunday lunches in a restaurant style on a regular basis.

Our main function rooms are often referred to as the State Rooms which comprise of a number of elegantly decorated rooms based in the main school building dating from approximately 1770. These include:

The Library

May be used as a private meeting room or converted into a conference area for up to 40 delegates.

The Kings’ Room

An elegant example of a Georgian chamber room beautifully decorated with eight large fixed oil paintings of Kings and can seat up to 100 delegates and has been used for a variety of purposes including a concert hall utilising the resident grand piano.

The Queen’s Room

Situated between the Library and the Kings’ Room, it may be used for a variety of small functions with access to a grassed terrace.

The Abbot’s Hall

The only remaining monastic building at Milton Abbey, the oak panelled screen dates back to 1498 and there is a large open fireplace where roaring log fires are burnt during the winter months.

Theatre

Built in 1982, the New Barn Theatre seats 300 people with the latest lighting technology and is available for company or solo performances.


In addition, the school’s sports and leisure facilities include a 25m heated indoor swimming pool, small multi gym, 9 hole golf course, squash courts and all weather tennis courts as well as a recreation hall and sports pitches.

All our catering is done in-house enabling us to provide for fully catered functions, refreshments and lunches for non-residential delegates, from gourmet meals to cream teas arranged in advance.
