Sixth Form Introduction

The Sixth Form is a good time for boys and girls to get back together again if they have enjoyed a break from each other during the previous years. About a quarter of our Sixth Form is now made up of girls and, of the boys, the majority have stayed on from the Fifth Form and about 10% have joined from other schools.

Entrance is by interview, held at an assessment day during which there are also team-building exercises. Candidates should have a good GCSE pass in each of the subjects he or she is intending to take for A Level.

The Sixth Form offers a broad set of courses from traditional academic subjects leading to AS and A Level to excellent vocational courses leading to BTECs, which are well-regarded alternatives to A Levels. You can download our curriculum booklet, with all the details, here.

Sixth Form boys live in one of the five boys’ houses – Athelstan, Bancks, Damer, Hambro and Tregonwell – and Sixth Form girls join a girls only house, Middleton.

Each house is run by a housemaster or housemistress, a team of tutors, one per year group, and a matron. Each has a separate common room. In addition, the Sixth Form have their own popular social club.

If you are currently at another school and thinking of joining the Milton Abbey Sixth Form, you will find that this is a remarkable easy and welcoming place to adjust to, and you are likely to feel comfortable here very quickly, whether you are a boarding or day pupil.
