Sports Results Weeks 3 and 4

A round-up of sports results from weeks 3 and 4 of the Summer Term by Mr Lawes, Head of Sport.

Cricket

The 1st XI has played three times in the last two weeks. They have produced some good cricket but consistency continues to be the challenge. They lost by just 16 runs to Poole Grammar with Stephen performing well with the ball and Will M starring with an unbeaten 62. They produced a good performance against the MCC.  Archie impressed with the ball but it was Jamie that was awarded man of the match falling one short of a well-deserved 50. He is awarded with a traditional MCC cricket hat for his achievement.

U15 v Ryde – Won by 45 runs
Milton Abbey batted first and a positive start from Dan and Max saw them add 120 for the first wicket. Dan scored 62 and Max 47. Ryde were going strongly in return but Milton Abbey took wickets steadily to ensure the win with excellent bowling and fielding from Oscar in particular.

U14 v Ryde – Won by 56 runs
It was a fantastic trip to Ryde. The boys were a credit to the school throughout and produced their best performance of the season so far. MA lost early wickets but Piers started dispatching the ball to all parts. He hit 77 off just 45 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes; a fantastic innings which was well supported by Joe. In reply, Ryde were always behind the asking rate. Archie and Hugh bowled well but it was Kay who did the damage finishing with amazing figures of 7 for 13. Kay will be awarded the match ball for his 7 wickets.

Athletics

Interschool’s Competition at Bryanston - once again a special mention must go to Gabe for winning the Junior Boys Long Jump. Rob came 3rd in his 400m and Ava came 3rd in the hurdles against girls much older than herself. Well done to all the athletes.
