Outdoor Activities programme off to a great start

From climbing to canoeing, navigating to mountain biking, this year's Outdoor Activities programme is already proving popular at Milton Abbey.

Week one saw eleven pupils attend the School's climbing club and visit the Queen Elizabeth leisure centre climbing wall where they learnt the techniques involved in rope climbing.  Five pupils attended the newly-formed canoe club in the School's swimming pool (pictured), and eight Fourth Form pupils completed an induction to navigating, enjoying a scenic walk where they had chance to take photographs along the way.

The School's popular mountain biking club has returned with the addition of eight brand new bikes, allowing pupils to complete longer routes in more challenging conditions (including lots of mud and rain!).  The club's core team of riders have began taking part in more challenging trail riding sessions and enjoyed an excellent peer coaching session on Thursday accompanied by Pod, the in-training trail dog, who has been rounding up the bikers and keeping up morale along the way!
