MAA Grant Briefing Event – Marcello and The Silk Road

We were delighted to welcome Marcello back to Milton Abbey this week. Marcello, a former pupil and member of Hambro, is currently studying Anthropology and Archaeology at St. Hugh's College, Oxford.

He  came back to talk to the current Middle Sixth pupils about his Gap Year travels, as part of a Milton Abbey Association (MAA) Briefing Event for the benefit of this year's leavers.  Marcello took advantage of winning an MAA Gap Year Grant in his last year at Milton Abbey to travel along Marco Polo's 'Silk Road' to China, passing through some fascinating and remote places along the way.  This included living amongst the nomadic peoples of Mongolia for a long period. Marcello says that the £1000 grant almost lasted until he reached China.  This was a fascinating and inspiring talk.

Any pupil who would like to be considered as a recipient for this year's MAA Gap Year Grant should contact Hugo Mieville on hugo.mieville@miltonabbey.co.uk
