The inspecting Officers were Capt Chris Cook RN and Col Carson, a former Milton Abbey pupil representing Brigade HQ. The Contingent Officers, Senior cadets and the Deputy Head met the VIPs for lunch in the Princes room. In the afternoon the guests were taken around the School grounds to several stances, to showcase the full range of training the cadets have been conducting. The first stance was a 25m indoor rifle range shooting competition. The guests provided stiff competition but the cadets won, only dropping one point in a grouping and rapid fire competition. The next stance was a test of the cadets’ observational skills in the woods. There followed a Close Quarter Battle (CQB) with pairs lane firing blanks at targets along the route back to friendly forces after being cut off by the enemy. The final stance run by the RN section was a Morse code stance, held in a secret location and was never found. After the stances the Contingent conducted a parade during which the Milton Abbey Contingent Colours were unveiled for the first time. The parade was taken by WO2 Tom Southwell who led the salute with the Honour Guard presenting arms; an inspection followed and another chance for the VIPs to chat to the cadets with Sgt Archie Bruce taking charge of the parade. Well done to all cadets for their turnout, their help throughout the day and to all the Officers who ensured the day went so well. Milton Abbey CCF can be proud of a job well done.
